Coffee oil

Coffee is a luxury good and by far the most popular hot beverage in Europe. However, only 0.2 percent of the coffee ends up in the cup. The rest (over 99%) usually ends up as garbage. What a waste! Coffee grounds still contain many valuable ingredients and Green Drop makes them accessible.

Coffee oil is particularly suitable for use in skincare and cosmetics products because the oil has many positive properties for the use in products such as creams, lotions, anti-aging products, shampoos and sunscreens. Coffee oil is rich in the omega-3 fatty acid residue derived from α-linolenic acid. Therefore, the valuable ingredients of the oil have regenerating, firming and moisturizing properties.

Conventional coffee oil is pressed from raw or roasted coffee beans. This process is very complex and expensive. Prices of over €100 per litre are common. Due to the high production costs, coffee oil has hardly been used to date. Coffee oil obtained from coffee grounds, is in no way inferior to the oil that is pressed directly from the beans, because all the oily components remain in the coffee grounds when brewing. However, this type of extraction is much more resource- and environmentally friendly and therefore not only more climate-friendly, but also much more cost-effective.
